Ellerston Australian Emerging Leaders Fund Maintains “Recommended” Rating from Lonsec

Ellerston Capital is pleased to announce that the Ellerston Australian Emerging Leaders Fund (Fund) has retained its “Recommended” rating from leading research house Lonsec. This rating is a testament to the Fund’s consistent performance and Ellerston’s expertise in identifying and investing in emerging, high-potential Australian companies.

The Fund is managed by a highly experienced team of five investment analysts, led by Alexandra Clarke and David Keelan, who act as joint Portfolio Managers for both the Emerging Leaders and Micro-Cap strategies. David Keelan also serves as Ellerston’s Chief Investment Officer. The team was recently strengthened with the appointment of James Barker as Deputy Portfolio Manager.

Employing a bottom-up, fundamental approach to investing, the team focuses on identifying companies with sustainable growth prospects at reasonable valuations. With a typical market cap of AUD $650m, the Fund targets under-researched securities that often lack broker coverage, creating information asymmetry that the team leverages through in-depth fundamental research. Additionally, it offers diversification benefits by investing in sectors beyond the heavily concentrated large-cap segments of the Australian market, such as Financials and Materials.

Over the past year, the Fund has delivered a return of 48.87%* significantly outperforming its benchmark by 22.22%. Commenting on the rating, David Keelan said, “We are delighted to have Lonsec reaffirm its confidence in our strategy. This recognition highlights our disciplined approach to identifying quality, high-growth opportunities within the Australian small-cap space.” The Fund employs a flexible investment mandate with a highly active management style, allowing the team to capitalise on emerging opportunities. The team’s approach is to seek ‘quality’ stocks with strong competitive moats that offer expansion opportunities while being mispriced. The Fund will typically hold between 30-60 securities and seeks to outperform the benchmark over a three-year period.
