Sydney, 10 September 2025— Ellerston Capital Solutions, led by its experienced merger and acquisition team of Martin Hanrahan, Jarrod Silbert and Baillie Waller, has successfully advised on the landmark $114 million transaction involving the sale of an iconic Australian retailer, Doors Plus and its portfolio of properties.
The deal includes the $60 million sale of the Doors Plus business, sold to mid-market private equity firm Colinton Capital Partners, as well as a $54 million sale and leaseback of the founding family’s property portfolio comprising showrooms and distribution sites across Australia.
This represents the first time in the company’s 35-year history that it has released equity, with the founders retaining a 20 per cent stake in the business and remaining actively involved in its operations.
Founded in 1989, Doors Plus operates 22 showrooms and five distribution centres across Australia and is widely recognised for its “Doors Plus – no fuss” jingle. Under new ownership, the company is poised for significant expansion with plans to open additional sites, refurbish existing stores, and broaden its product range.
Martin Hanrahan, Managing Director at Ellerston Capital Solutions, said, “We are pleased to have advised on such a pivotal moment in the history of Doors Plus. This transaction reflects the strength of the brand, its loyal customer base, and the growth potential in Australia’s home renovation and remodelling market. For us, it is also a testament to the deep relationships and experience our team has built over more than 26 years working together.
We are delighted to deliver this great result for the founders and to see the business in strong hands with Colinton Capital Partners.”
Ellerston Capital Solutions was instrumental in structuring and executing the transaction, leveraging its expertise and long-standing industry connections. Legal advice was provided by Hall & Wilcox, one of Australia’s leading law firms with more than 150 partners. Colliers advised on the sale of the real estate portfolio.
