Ellerston Capital becomes signatory to PRI

Ellerston Capital is delighted to announce that we have become a signatory to the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investing (“the PRI”). As a signatory, Ellerston commits to adopting and supporting the 6 Principles for Responsible Investing:

  1. Incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
  2. Be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
  3. Seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
  4. Promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
  5. Work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
  6. Report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.

Ellerston’s implementation of this voluntary global standard demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the integration of Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) practices into our investment strategies.

In strong alignment with our client base, Ellerston has a long tradition of responsible investing. Over 75% of our funds under management, including all strategies managed for institutional investors, are already invested with appropriate, active consideration of ESG factors and company engagement. Becoming a PRI signatory is a catalyst for expanding and further strengthening our ESG perspective, as well as for engaging more proactively on responsible investment topics with like-minded organisations around the world.

Under our multi-boutique investment model, each investment team for our nine investment strategies has the independence to determine their own investment approach. This includes how ESG contributes to assessing sources of risk and return when evaluating markets, sectors and companies, as well as actively voting and engaging with companies they own.

About the PRI

Launched in 2006, the PRI were defined by the Secretary General of the United Nations to help investors integrate ESG factors into their practical decision-making process, consequently enhancing beneficiaries’ long-term returns.

The PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. It works to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions. The PRI acts in the long-term interests of its signatories, of the financial markets and economies in which they operate and ultimately of the environment and society as a whole.

The PRI is truly independent. It encourages investors to use responsible investment to enhance returns and better manage risks, but does not operate for its own profit; it engages with global policymakers but is not associated with any government; it is supported by, but not part of, the United Nations.

Today, there are more than 1,400 signatories in over 50 countries representing US$59 trillion of assets. For more information, visit www.pri.org
